The muscled Rob Brown trio, which, besides the NY-based alto saxophonist, features the one and only William Parker on bass and Gerald Cleaver on drums, suffered a last-minute change with the sudden absence of the latter due to consecutive delays on his flight from Europe.

Juan Carletti was the one appointed to do the job. Even lacking the skills of his fellow musician, he assured, with the help of the laborious Parker, the required
robust rhythmic basis that welcomed the saxophonist’s dazzling tone.

Brown, who’s a recurrent member of several Parker’s acclaimed projects, dived in the free and avant-garde territories with determination, open-mindedness, and zest.
Within the dramatic context created, quietude and chaos go hand in hand.
